Traditional Japanese Martial Arts in Adelaide
At Aiki Shuren Dojo Adelaide, we practise traditional Iwama Aikido, a Japanese martial art that develops technical skill, physical capability and responsive movement.
Classes combine empty hand techniques, structured partner practice and traditional Japanese weapons as one integrated system.
Beginners welcome.

What We Do

Traditional Iwama Aikido
Our dojo follows the teachings of Iwama Shinshin Aiki Shuren Kai under Hitohira Saito Sensei.
Training remains connected to Japan through ongoing study and regular visits to Iwama.

Empty Hand and Weapons
Iwama Aikido combines empty-hand techniques with bokken and jo training as one complete system.
Together they help students understand how the same martial principles apply whether responding to a strike, a grab or a weapon.

Understanding
Students learn not only how techniques are performed, but why they work.
This approach helps build strong fundamentals that continue to develop throughout many years of training.
Visit the Dojo
The best way to understand Aikido is to experience it. If you are looking for a traditional Japanese martial art that values technical understanding, purposeful physical training and continual learning, we invite you to attend a class and experience for yourself.
